Brie and her husband, writer and producer Ben Affleck, founded Cakecrackers in 2011 after finding out their daughter, Brie, would be baking at the next school bake sale.
They began looking for a recipe to use and came across an old recipe in the book.
“That was the beginning of a whole new world for us, because we had no idea what it was,” Brie says.
“We started looking for recipes and the recipes became the foundation of what we cook.”
Bries bakery is known for their classic, chocolate cake, but they also bake savory dishes such as baked beans, a house-made sausage, and a fried chicken parmesan.
Brie is one of the few pastry chefs in the world who can use traditional pastry techniques, which she says is a great way to cook delicate pastries.
“You can get away with using less flour and more butter in a cake and a pastry, but it really changes the way the cake comes out,” she says.
Bries cake is the perfect example of the delicate flavor of the bakery’s chocolate cake.
“Brie is the kind of person that loves her chocolate cake and she’s so talented in that,” Affleck says.
While Brie’s breads are traditionally baked at home, they can be baked at the bakery by a chef, but she has found that it makes her work more comfortable.
“For us, it’s really a great opportunity to make things that we don’t normally make and to try something new,” she explains.

In the meantime, she is looking forward to sharing her cake recipes with her daughter and friends.
“As I get older and have more kids, I’m just really excited to see where we go with our food, so that I don’t have to do all the work,” she adds.
“And to see the books and recipes and recipes I created and how they turned out, it just makes me happy.”
